An invitation into a civic sensibility.
Participation here is a slow, local way of paying attention to where you live, and letting that attention shape what you do next.
Below are a few small prompts. Any one of them, practised quietly for a season, is already enough to belong here.
Six civic prompts
- A walking prompt
Choose five hundred metres near where you live. Walk them slowly, at the same hour, for a week. Notice what changes, and what refuses to.
- A noticing prompt
Find one bench, one tree, one shopfront on your street that holds public life together. Ask, quietly, who keeps it that way.
- An observation prompt
Photograph the same junction at 8am, 1pm and 7pm. Three small portraits of one piece of city, behaving differently across a single day.
- A civic ritual
Greet the same three people on your morning walk for a month. The street is partly made of these small recognitions.
- A neighbourhood exercise
Sit at a chai stall for an hour without your phone. Watch where children, elders and strangers naturally pause. That is your neighbourhood thinking out loud.
- An act of stewardship
Pick one small public thing, a corner, a wall, a strip of pavement, and quietly look after it for a season. Let the work speak for itself.
